In June we said farewell to another group of accomplished residents from UF Dermatology, and in July, we welcomed a bright new group of junior residents.

Residents

Congratulations to our four recent graduates: (pictured left to right) Elizabeth Bisbee, MD, Anand Desai, MD, Reesa Monir, MD, and Penelope Skopis, MD! Dr. Bisbee is now Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology, University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Desai is working at the NF/SG Malcom Randall VA. Dr. Monir will continue working at the UF Department of Dermatology and Dr. Skopis is now Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology, Rush University

During the graduation ceremony, the department also recognized achievements by residents

Dr. Reesa Monir received the Academic Distinction Award presented by Dr. Marjorie Montanez-Wiscovich. Dr. Elizabeth Bisbee received the Outstanding Resident Educator Award presented by Dr. Jennifer Schoch. Dr. Penelope Skopis received the Gold Humanism Award presented by Dr. Kiran Motaparthi.

Drs. Welborn and Marion are Texans, having completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center – Houston and University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston, respectively. Both Drs. Marion and Welborn are serving as the 2022-23 Chief Residents. Dr. Werbel completed medical school at University of California San Diego but is already a Gator with roots in Gainesville. Dr. Ahn completed medical schools at the Medical College of Georgia

Dr. Chung completed medical school Loma Linda University School of Medicine and his transitional at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Dr. Forouzandeh completed medical school and her transitional year at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Maddy completed medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and his transitional year at Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Patel completed medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and his preliminary year at the University of Maryland

Dr. Farahbakhsh completed medical school at the University of Florida of Medicine COM and his preliminary at University of Central Florida COM. Dr. Gurnani completed medical school FIU Herbert Wertheim COM and her preliminary year at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Ruiz completed medical school at the Edward Via COM-Carolinas and his preliminary year at Broward Health Medical Center. Dr. Svoboda completed medical school at the Virginia Tech Carilion SOM and his preliminary year at the USF Morsani.
