Jacksonville Clinic News

Deerwood JacksonvilleThe UF Department of Dermatology has a bustling outpatient practice located just off Gate Parkway in Jacksonville. The Jacksonville practice started in 2015 and has grown rapidly over the past 5 years. Initially located near downtown off of Emerson Street, the practice moved to its current Gate Parkway location in 2017. The Jacksonville location offers a range of services including general dermatology, pediatric dermatology and dermatology surgery. The providers at this location include: Dr. Isabel Longo (general dermatology), Dr. Scott Fosko (dermatologic surgery), Dr. Doug Robins (general dermatology), and Dr. Jennifer Schoch (pediatric dermatology). The practice providers also educate dermatology residents from Gainesville and Internal medicine residents from the Jacksonville program as well as the surgical dermatology fellow.

Dr. Longo brings a special interest in transplant dermatology and pigmented lesions and aims to grow that service there. Dr. Fosko brings a wealth of Dermatologic Surgery experience as a fellow member and past president of the Mohs college and welcomes and has seen increasing referrals for Mohs surgery and the management of high risk skin cancer. Dr. Robins is unwavering in his commitment to the practice of dermatology and teaching and relentlessly travels to UF weekly to participate in the resident clinics. Dr. Schoch continues to excel in her research endeavors, as described later in this newsletter, yet also continues to provide the much needed pediatric dermatology services for Jacksonville.

At the time of the publication of this newsletter, Dr. Carstens had decided that for personal reasons she would pursue a private practice option. Yet, we would be remiss without mentioning that the successful growth of the Jacksonville/Deerwood Park clinic owes a great deal to her efforts and she will be missed.
