Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a rare genetic skin condition that can cause blistering and peeling of the skin. It can also affect other body sites including the eye, nasal and oral cavity, hands, upper airway, and gastrointestinal system. There are 4 main subtypes and each patient is affected in different ways.
The UF Health EB Clinic is the only comprehensive multidisciplinary EB clinic in the Southern States with disciplines from dermatology, dermatology nurses with wound care training, physical/occupational therapy, dietetics, gastroenterology, social worker and others. The
Dermatology department also hosts an itch clinic and this expertise is invaluable for EB patients who often suffer from chronic itch. We provide care to all EB patients, from birth to adulthood ensuring that patients of all ages can receive this specialist care.
The EB Clinic is committed to providing the most up to date treatments that are available. Our team is involved in research and regularly attend meetings with other national EB specialists to ensure patients are receiving the most up to date medical management.
