About Beverly Johnson
Dr Beverly Johnson joined the faculty at University of Florida Department of Dermatology in July 2021. She was born in Tuskegee, Alabama but her family moved to upstate New York while she was in elementary school. She attended Northwestern University in Illinois for her undergraduate studies. She obtained her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington DC. Before going back to Howard for her dermatology residency, she spent a year in Belle Glade, Florida as a general medical officer serving migrant farmers with the US Public Health Service.
She had a private practice of dermatology in the District of Columbia and Silver Spring Maryland for 34 years before moving to Academia full time in Florida at Florida State University Her special interests include teaching residents, disorders of pigmentation and cosmetic lasers. Before the pandemic, she enjoyed traveling with her friends with empty-nests to jazz festivals and art exhibits. She takes great pride in her three adult children who currently live in Massachusetts, Virginia, and Maryland.
